After completing a City and Guilds Engineering qualification, I trained in office interior construction and have spent my career specialising in this area. I have experience in all aspects of interior construction, from estimating to site management and I’ve worked on a broad range of projects, from commercial buildings and high-end residential properties to private healthcare centres and dental practices. For the past three years I have been actively involved in working for Ramsay Health Care & HR Owen Group, covering multiple projects around the UK.
My role from start to finish on any project is to primarily progress the project in a professional manner, liaising with the client and team at all times in order to meet client expectations.
My career highlight to date has been working on an office refurbishment for The Prince’s Trust in Victoria, London. This was a special project as the Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Edward attended completion to thank all those involved.
Martyn Kitchen Contracts Manager
Upon leaving school, I became a trainee Cabinet Maker within the musical instrument industry. After qualifying, I ventured into site installations of plastic laminate products and eventually moved on to general building, in positions including 18 months as site person in charge (S.P.I.C ) on the east London line refurbishment. I’ve spent the last 15 years working within the dental industry as a Site Manager, and from early on realised my passion for this area of work.
Alongside my professional career, I used to be a member of the Territorial Army in Bomb Disposal and later in life have successfully completed my RYA Yachtmaster.
I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue my career with Apollo, their passion and expertise in this sector is evident and I’m eager to bring my experience to future projects to continue their journey of success.
Naomi Ford Business Administrator
I have recently joined Apollo to support the team with finance administration, following a role as an Accounts Manager for a small weddings and events business. Prior to having my two children, I spent eight years working in market research for Millward Brown, an international quantitative research agency. I managed research projects into brands and advertising for a range of clients from L’Oreal UK to Visa Europe. My responsibilities included questionnaire design, management of fieldwork and analysis of the research findings, which I shared with clients through reports and presentations.
Outside of work family is the priority! But I always make time to keep fit and love a fitness challenge. This allows me to enjoy the odd treat or two, and I love to cook and bake – the children’s birthday cakes being the highlight!
Chris Armstrong Director
After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering, I started my own Steel Fabrication Company, designing and building structural steel works such as fire escapes and industrial staircases. After 10 years, I joined Newtech Interiors as a Project Manager and spent an amazing 7 years over in Ghana (which was originally meant to be a 6 month project secondment!) Ghana brought many fantastic opportunities, including being appointed as a Consultant to the Ministry of Defence (implementation of sewage plants), working on bridge installations, a cocoa farming infrastructure project and building commuter and feeder roads through the bush. After working as a Construction Manager for a regional hospital, I came back to the UK and joined Genus Property Services PLC, where I spent 9 years as a Senior Project Manager working on various design and build projects for the dental, medical, commercial and residential sectors. In 2010, I joined Apollo Interiors as a Director and take on the project management of most jobs, as well as business development. I think the qualities that distinguish Apollo are our attention to detail and our commitment to deliver high quality jobs every time. Most of our work comes from client referrals and we are looking to further expand our marketing activities in the future.
Elwyn Simmons Director
I started my career as a Production Engineer apprentice at General Motors, where I spent some years in Germany, which was a great experience. I continued my Engineering career back in the UK at Vauxhall General Motors in Luton, before joining Genus Property Services PLC as a Commercial Quantity Surveyor. I spent an enjoyable 15 years at Genus, heading up the Estimating Department for the Residential, Commercial, Dental and Medical sectors. During this time, we dealt with the Audit Commission and large global businesses, including Arthur Andersen and Deloitte & Touche. In 2010, myself and Roy Bashford set up Apollo Interiors. Within 6 months, we had a great team around us and had all taken on our own areas of responsibility – although it’s all hands on deck most of the time and we share the load! I take on Project Management, Accounts and Estimating and love getting out and about and meeting new people. Apollo is synonymous with quality and the fact that we have so many recommendations must mean we are doing something right! We are excited to see where the business takes us.
Roy Bashford Director
I have worked in the Interior Design and Build Industry for over 30 years. I’ve spent my career at a variety of companies within the property refurbishment sector, on projects in mainland Europe and North America. I began working in on-site supervisory roles, which led on to project management roles at various well-established UK refurbishment contractors and eventually to the formation of Apollo Interiors in October 2010. My key role at Apollo is on the project management side. I ensure we deliver our clients’ projects to the highest quality, on budget and on time, with a focus of meeting their expectations at all times.
Sarah Casey Junior Designer/ CAD Operator
Hi, my name is Sarah Casey and I joined the team at Apollo Interiors in 2016. Coming from a background in Retail, I have a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and a BA Hons Degree in Interior Design. I work closely with the Project Managers to produce layouts and full construction drawing packages, combining my design skills with their extensive industry experience and knowledge, which works really well. My philosophy is to promote health and wellbeing through Interior Design wherever possible. I based much of my work at university on this concept and through research have found many strategies which can be implemented in any design project to maximise this to great effect.
I am a perfectionist and I believe in getting every detail right, which is important when it comes to design. I love my job and all the creative challenges that come with it.
Chris Pike Senior Interior Designer
I’ve been a Senior Interior Designer within the design build commercial sector since 1985. I worked as lead designer on many major projects in the office, banking and healthcare sectors in the UK, Europe and Africa. During the noughties, I was Head of Design for a major design / build organisation, where I managed and nurtured a team of six designers through large projects. I joined Apollo Interiors at its inception in 2010.
Dennis Diep Designer
I am a highly motivated and results-driven interior designer with a strong desire to exceed expectations and a passion for contemporary design. My goal is to bring good quality and well-designed solutions to all projects, irrespective of budget.
I graduated with a Master’s degree in 3D Interior Design from Manchester in 1992, and progressed my design career path within leading architects, retail multi-design discipline agencies and building construction firms in the UK, Europe and Asia. In 2004, I became the principal designer for a large design/build organisation based in Bedfordshire, where I coordinated a small interior design team. We were engaged on a wide range of commercial, office and healthcare projects, from pitch stage through to implementation, and forged strong client relationships. I joined the team at Apollo Interiors back in 2010.
Andrew Wright Project Manager
I first met and worked with the directors at Apollo fifteen years ago. I started as a labourer, working under the numerous Contracts Managers my previous employer had, on many different interior fit out projects. I immediately got the bug for refurbishment projects and continued to progress at the company until I left for university.
I studied for a degree in Economics for Business and graduated in 2007. I went straight back to work with Elwyn, Chris and Roy where I continued to work hard and progress to level of Contracts Manager within a couple of years. My degree helped me understand the financial side of the business in greater detail and led me to work towards Project Management, moving away from site based work.
I moved companies and went to work for another interiors business for a year before joining Apollo Interiors in early 2012. Since then I have loved working for Apollo. We all work extremely hard to keep the company progressing and have carried out some fantastic projects for some amazing clients.
Outside of work, I’m a very keen golfer and enjoy weekends away playing with a group of friends whenever possible. I’m a big football fan and enjoy watching games at my local social club.
