Spring is just around the corner, officially starting on the 20th March 2016. Traditionally spring is the perfect time to get your home and business in order, have a de-clutter and freshen-up. A dental practice refurbishment is the best way to address niggling issues within your business, reposition your branding and get some new patients through the door.

Here are our top 6 clinic design and refurbishment ideas:

1.Outdoor signage
Attracting passers-by to your premises is essential, particularly if you have a High Street location. To ensure your practice is visible both day and night – and is attracting passers-by both on foot and those driving past, its time to think about your outdoor signage. Where is it located? Is the Practice name and branding visible and recognisable? Do signs need to be illuminated in the dark and are key contact details such as phone number and website prominent?

2. How family friendly are you?
The whole family will be visiting the dentist, from infants to the elderly. Does your Practice cater for all generations? Are there clean toys in good working order that will keep children entertained? Are there a good selection of magazines in good condition relevant to all age groups? Is there a water/drinks machine? When was the last time you checked the toilets and baby changing facilities? Are they well stocked with soap, hand-creams and baby wipes? All these small dental practice refurbishment touches will ensure your patients want to come back!

3. Focus on seating
A visit to any dental practice will usually involve a degree of waiting around for patients. Seating needs to be comfortable and in good condition. Consider a mix of harder seats and soft seating/sofas to add a welcoming, relaxed feel which will put patients at ease.

4.Reception counters
The reception counter will probably be the first thing a patient sees when they walk through your door, so it needs to make an impact as well as be functional. You need to take into consideration the space you have, who will be manning the desk, accessibility for wheelchair users, business branding/signage and to ensure that counter tops are the right height for patients to sign paperwork or use merchant terminals.

5.All about the walls
Walls are the best place to introduce a pop of colour, introduce your practice branding and perhaps consider screen-based technology. You could consider 3D logos, wall screens, wall signage, vinyl graphics, media walls, canvasses, and features walls in bright paint or wallpaper. Interesting wall features/art will again give the impression of a Practice which has been looked after and encourage a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

6. Don’t forget about storage
Your dental practice will have many tools, equipment and products which need to be both stored and displayed. Better storage means better practice efficiency. We can help you make the most out of smaller/awkward spaces and come up with a clinic design that will work for you and your team.
