Earthy Tones
Earthy colours top the interiors list for 2019. Sherwin Williams have named Cavern Clay, a warm terracotta, as their colour of 2019, whilst Dulux have chosen Spiced Honey, a warm amber hue.
Rich Reds
Following on from the earthy tones, rich reds are another popular choice for 2019. With Pantone naming Jester Red one of its top shades for the year ahead, berry reds are going to be big.
Shades of Blue
From the bold and bright to more soothing shades, blue is set to be a key colour for 2019. From clear aqua to dark navy, blue palettes are set to be popular.
Graham and Brown have named Tiru their colour of the year – an opulent teal blue. Farrow and Ball recently launched a new blue shade, De Nimes, in their latest collection, inspired by the original Denim fabric from France.
Jewel Tones
Emerald, sapphire and aquamarine shift us away from the more neutral tones of 2018. Jewel tones add a pop of colour and excitement to colour schemes. Jewel colours will be seen in accents across homes, from feature walls to accessories.
Following hot on the steps of Pantone’s 2018 colour of the year – Ultra Violet, Metropolis Lilac is one of Valspar’s 12 (yes, 12!) shades of the year. An immersive purple that adds a touch of drama, this shade captures the trend well.
Ice Cream Pastels
Last year’s Millennial Pink is finally out and softer shades are in. Ice cream pastels, AKA ‘Gelato’ colours, are the new neutrals, ranging from lilacs and misty blues to dusky pinks. Muted pastels are easy to incorporate into colour schemes and offer a timeless appeal.
Valspar has brought out Blushing Bride, a rosy neutral, as one of their key colours for 2019.
Beige is the New Neutral
After a saturation of grey over the past decade, 2019 sees a shift back to beige as the go-to neutral. However, die-hard grey fans will be pleased with Benjamin Moore’s key shade for 2019 – Metropolitan, a soothing grey with cool undertones, showing that the grey trend is far from over yet.
